Rohit-Yashasvi broke 21 year old record
Rohit-Yashaswi later broke Sanjay Bangar and Virender Sehwag's record for the highest opening partnership. In 2002, Sehwag and Bangar shared a 201-run partnership at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai while opening the innings. On the other hand, on 13 July 2023 i.e. after about 21 years, Rohit and Yashasvi together broke this record.

17-year-old record also broken
Rohit scored 103 runs with 10 fours and two sixes while Yashasvi scored an unbeaten 143 with the help of 14 fours. With this century innings, both the openers broke many records. Rohit-Yashaswi became the first opening pair since 2006 to have a century partnership on West Indies soil. Only four Indian opening pairs have shared a century partnership in the Caribbean.

There has been a century of partnership between these opening pairs
In the year 1971, Sunil Gavaskar and Ashok Mankad shared an unbeaten 123-run partnership. Gavaskar also formed a century partnership with Anshuman Gaikwad on the Caribbean ground. After this, the opening pair of Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer together scored 159 runs in the year 2006. Rohit and Yashasvi broke Sehwag-Jaffer's 17-year-old record by sharing a 229-run partnership. Yashasvi Jaiswal has set a new record by hitting a four off Jason Holder in the 61st over.

By the end of the second day's play, India has taken a lead of 162 runs over the hosts. Yashasvi Jaiswal is playing unbeaten on 146 and Virat Kohli on 36 on the field.
