In such a situation, if we talk about cholesterol, then it acts as a silent killer, if cholesterol increases too much in the body then it can cause trouble. Let us tell you that cholesterol is present in our body in two forms: good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Good cholesterol is beneficial for our health, bad cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease. If bad cholesterol increases in the body, then these symptoms appear on the mouth-
1. Dry mouth
Dry mouth is a common problem dehydration, when cholesterol levels increase, saliva flow can decrease, which can cause dryness in the mouth.
2. Mouth swelling
Unlike normal gum swelling, this type of swelling occurs inside the mouth, but it can cause noticeable swelling on the cheeks.
3. Swollen gums
Swollen gums are often associated with increased cholesterol. Additionally, lack of proper nutrition in the body can contribute to this problem, which may be associated with a condition called periodontitis.
4. Red gums
Gums that appear abnormally red can be a sign of increased cholesterol. In some cases, red gums may also bleed, leading to further infection.
5. Appearance of yellow spots or lumps
Yellow lumps or spots, known as xanthomas, may appear on the skin, especially around the mouth, eyes, or ears.
How to prevent and manage cholesterol levels
Eat a healthy diet: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain healthy hydration levels and prevent dry mouth.
