Karwa Chauth 2023: As soon as Karwa Chauth arrives, all married women start preparing for the fast. A lot of preparation has to be done in its preparation, from worship to makeup. This time Karva Chauth will be celebrated on 1 November.

In Karva Chauth, along with various fruits, dry fruits, sweets, laddus, and rice kheer, people also offer fara made of rice and gram dal. Some people also call it rice pitha. It is made with the help of steam, hence it is a completely nutritious food. Let us know the recipe for making Fara from rice and gram dal.

  • Heat a cup of water in a bowl and add half a teaspoon of salt and two teaspoons of butter.
  • Mix this water with rice flour and keep it aside.
  • Grind the urad dal and chana dal soaked for 3 to 4 hours coarsely in a mixer.
  • Add finely chopped green chilies, ginger paste, coriander powder, red chili powder, and turmeric powder.
  • Add finely chopped green coriander and salt and mix well.
  • Your stuffing is ready.
  • Take the mixture of hot water and rice flour on a plate. Apply ghee on your hands add 3 to 4 spoons of water and knead it into a soft dough.
  • Make small balls of dough.
  • Wrap these balls in dry rice flour and roll them gently.
  • Shape into small puris. Keep in mind that it should not be too thin.
  • Cut into uniform round shapes from a round lid, glass, or bowl.
  • Take this cut puri in your hand and stuff it with a spoon.
  • Fold it just once.
  • Similarly, roll out the dough and fold all the stuffing. The shape of Fara is ready. It remains to be cooked.
  • Now heat water in a vessel.
  • Place a mesh plate over it after greasing it with oil.
  • Place all the prepared pieces on this mesh plate.
  • Cover the top, and let it cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and check. Turn off the gas when completely cooked.
  • Steam Fara is ready.
  • Heat oil to fry it.
  • Add seasoning of cumin, mustard seeds, red chili, and curry leaves to it.
  • Put Fara in this oil and fry till it turns golden.
  • Sprinkle chaat masala, black salt, and red chili powder on top.
