Often we consider bad eating habits and lifestyle as the cause of diseases. But apart from this, there are many such things, which can cause serious diseases in our bodies. Diabetes is one of these diseases. The disease of diabetes can only be controlled as there is no cure for it. Recently there has been a study, which has revealed that even nail polish and shampoos can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes in women.

It has been told in this research that toxic chemicals present in Kinet paint and shampoo can cause type 2 diabetes in women. Many cosmetic products use chemicals called Phthalates, which make plastics stronger.

A shocking revelation in research
Researchers at the University of Michigan tracked nearly 1,300 women for six years. Researchers found that women who had high exposure to these chemicals called Phthalates had a 63 per cent higher risk of type 2 diabetes. The Food and Drug Administration warns that these chemicals are also found in hair spray, aftershave and other beauty products. According to scientists, these chemicals prevent the development of tumours, cancer and newborn babies in the womb.

Why use Phthalate
Phthalate is used for the durability and lubrication of any cosmetic product. In a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, scientists researched 1,300 American women who did not have diabetes. Researchers monitored them for 6 years from 2000 to 2006. The researchers took urine samples from the women.

What the researchers said
The researchers pointed out that toxic chemicals can cause diabetes because they disrupt the hormones insulin and glucagon. It regulates our blood sugar and triggers insulin resistance in the cells. If the body becomes resistant to any of these hormones, it cannot regulate blood sugar levels, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
