Speaking to News18, Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi, Chief Clinical Nutritionist at Apollo Hospitals, Bengaluru, said that juices contain a lot of calories. There are 117 calories in about one cup of juice. Along with this, the amount of fructose is also high in it. There is also about 21 grams of sugar in one cup of juice. That's why excessive consumption of juice affects many things in the body.
Disadvantages of excessive fruit juice
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that there is more fruit sugar in the juice. That's why sugar will increase by consuming more juice. If there are diabetic patients, then more problems will arise for them. On the other hand, taking more fruit juice will cause worms in the teeth and it will not be able to keep the liver properly hydrated. For this reason, it can be harmful to those who are gastric patients.
How much juice should be consumed daily?
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that since the fiber is removed from the juice and the amount of fructose also increases, an adult person should not drink more than one glass of juice in a day. If you drink more juice than this, then there can be many types of losses. Of course, its effect may not be visible immediately, but later it will affect the body in many ways.
What is the right time to drink juice?
Some people drink juice as soon as they wake up in the morning or drink juice before sleeping at night. Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that this method is not correct. If you drink juice early in the morning, then the sugar level of the body will increase. He said that the right time to drink juice is after breakfast. He said that either you drink a glass of juice between breakfast and lunch or drink juice between lunch and dinner. Do not consume juice very early in the morning or on an empty stomach.
What should be consumed instead of juice?
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that instead of juice in summer, it would be better to eat fruits. The amount of fiber in fruits is high, due to which it reduces the effect of excess sugar. Apart from this, there are many other benefits of fiber. He said that consumption of coconut water, watermelon, cucumber, lemon water etc. in summer would be more beneficial instead of juice.
