You must have heard from people that one should not eat too many sweets, otherwise, diabetes can occur. Some people do not even touch sweets, thinking that they will not become victims of diabetes. This is a common belief, but is it true? Can you really become a victim of diabetes by eating sweets?
We spoke to Dr. Anuj Maheshwari, Vice President of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India. He said that eating sweets is not directly related to diabetes. If you are eating one or two pieces of sweets a day then there is no risk of diabetes. But if you are eating sweets irregularly and in large quantities every day, then the glucose level in your body may increase. Due to this the risk of diabetes increases.
What is the cause of diabetes?
Dr. Maheshwari said that diabetes is a genetic disease. This means that in families where someone already has diabetes, the risk of diabetes increases in the next generations. At the same time, the risk is less in families where there are no diabetic patients. Along with this, excessive stress and irregular lifestyle can also increase the attack of diabetes. Stress can increase stress hormones in the body, which can increase glucose levels. This will cause your pancreas to produce more insulin, which can increase the pressure of beta cells and lead to diabetes.
What are the symptoms of diabetes?
