There are many flavored cakes available in the market, which are very much liked. But are these cakes increasing the risk of cancer? You heard it right, a shocking report has come out in which it is being said that such elements have been found in some types of cakes which can cause cancer.

According to media reports, the Karnataka Food Safety and Quality Department has advised all people to be careful while buying cakes. Not only this, the Food Safety Department has also warned all the bakeries in the state about the use of potentially carcinogenic elements while making cakes.

In fact, during a test, cancer-causing elements have been detected in 12 different types of cakes in Bengaluru. Officials said, all people should be aware of the things mixed in food items while buying them, no such element should be used which harms health.

Cancer-causing elements detected in cakes

After the detection of cancer-causing elements in cakes, there is fear in the minds of people. However, this is not the first case when caution has been given about the presence of cancer-causing elements in food items. Earlier, people were alerted about the risks in popular food items like cabbage Manchurian, kebab, and Panipuri.

According to reports published in the local media, the Karnataka Food Safety and Quality Department has urged all bakeries to comply with food safety and quality standards.

Danger from artificial colors and chemicals
Health experts said, artificial colors have often been used to make cakes like Red Velvet and Black Forest attractive. These artificial colors can pose dangerous health risks. During the testing of cake samples, the presence of artificial colors and elements like Allura Red, Sunset Yellow FCF, Ponso 4R, Tartrazine, and Carmoisine was detected. Most of these are considered dangerous for human health.

Such a case has come to light earlier also.

Health experts have been alerted about the use of artificial colors in food items earlier also. In March this year, the Karnataka government took a big decision and banned the food colors used in cotton candy. The Karnataka Health Department found the use of Rhodamine-B food coloring agent in cotton candy and cabbage Manchurian to be dangerous, and orders were given to stop its use. Rhodamine-B is considered to be a carcinogen.

Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao had said that strict action will be taken under the Food Safety Act against those using these harmful agents.

Food colors can have serious side effects.

Studies conducted on food colors like Rhodamine-B have found them to have many harmful effects on health. Its quantity has been found in some cakes during cake sample testing. Researchers say that Rhodamine-B has been used to dye clothes, it has also started being used as a food color. Consumption of food containing Rhodamine B can cause food poisoning and many types of serious diseases. It has also been found to be a potential carcinogen in many studies.

Similarly, Ponso 4R found in cakes was found to increase hyperactivity in children and cause oxidative stress in the body in a study conducted by the Food Standards Agency of Britain. Health experts said that everyone should remain careful about food items.
