Its excess can increase the problems related to blood pressure. According to the prescribed standards, a healthy person should not consume more than 2300 mg of salt in a day, whereas, in those who are blood pressure patients, this quantity is fixed at 1500 mg.

This is the situation in many other countries of the world as well. Consuming too much salt over a long time can lead to high blood pressure and thereby stroke – a life-threatening heart disease.

Apart from salt in food, it is also found in abundance in packed chips, junk, and fast food. But how do you know if you are consuming too much salt?

The problem of bloating may remain
Common short-term side effects of consuming too much salt are frequent bloating or heaviness in the abdomen. However, by reducing the amount of sodium, this problem also starts getting cured. Health experts say only those foods which are very salty don't need to have high sodium content. Sandwiches, pizza, and canned soups can also be high in salt.

The problem of frequent thirst
Frequent thirst can occur in many other health problems along with high sodium. If you keep experiencing problems of excessive thirst again and again, then definitely pay attention to reducing the amount of sodium. Due to excess sodium, you get dehydrated. Your body draws water from the cells which can cause you to feel very thirsty.

Sleeping problems
If you eat more salt before sleeping, then it can also disturb your sleep. Problems like restlessness, and frequent waking up at night are also problems caused due to excess sodium in the body. Apart from this, health experts found that due to excess salt in the body, blood pressure starts increasing, which can also cause problems with sleep.
