Being happy is the priority of all of us, but are you able to remain happy? For most of us, the answer would be no. Diseases, increasing negativity all around, and various types of uncertainties have increased problems like stress and anxiety, hence staying happy is no less than a challenge for most people.

Health experts say that our disturbed daily routine can also play a big role in this. Due to many habits, it has become difficult for us to remain happy, and lack of sleep is also one of them. According to a study released by the American Psychological Association, lack of sleep affects our mood and emotional states, due to which stress-anxiety increases and we are not able to experience inner happiness even after our best efforts.

If sleep is improved, it can help in reducing this problem to a great extent. Let us know what the studies reveal in this regard.

Effect of sleep on overall health
The team of researchers tried to understand the impact of sleep on physical and emotional health during more than 50 years of research. In a report published in the Psychological Bulletin journal, researchers said that lack of sleep is seriously damaging psychological health. This is why even younger people are being found more irritable, angry, unhappy and victims of many types of mental health problems than before.

What do researchers say?
Cara Palmer, lead author of this study conducted at Montana State University, says, the problem of sleep disorders is being seen on a large scale in our society, which is making us emotionally weak. This study provides strong evidence that prolonged periods of wakefulness, short sleep duration, and inability to get uninterrupted sleep at night have adverse effects on emotional functioning. Therefore, we are not able to remain happy despite all our efforts.

What did the study find?
In a data analysis of studies conducted on about 5,715 participants, researchers found that not getting enough sleep even for one night can hurt overall health. Research also found that lack of sleep increased the symptoms of anxiety and the problem of emotional disorders also started developing. Most participants were young adults with an average age of 23.

According to researchers, increasing sleep problems at an early age can also be problematic for quality of life.

It is necessary to improve sleep
In conclusion of the study, researcher Palmer says, we have found that more than 30 percent of adults and up to 90 percent of adolescents are not getting enough sleep. Widespread sleep deprivation in a society can pose a variety of personal and public health challenges. It is also the cause of many diseases.

Researchers say, if you want to avoid mental health disorders and be happy, then give priority to sleep. It is necessary to fix the routine for this. If you are having problems with sleep for a long time then definitely consult a specialist in time.
