Hair care is most important during summer as hot weather leads to more sweating and an oily scalp can lead to more dandruff, itchiness, and hair fall. Resorting to cold drinks and sugary foods to beat the heat increases during summers which lead to hair fall. But, by taking care of some things, you can make hair beautiful and shiny even in this season of sweat. Here are some hair-care tips that can save you from hair fall in summer:-
Cooling hair oil
Use hair oil made from cool herbs like hibiscus, amla, curry leaves, coconut, ghee Brahmi, etc.
Oiling once/twice a week
Apply oil only once/twice a week to provide direct nourishment to your hair. Give a deep massage at night and the next morning wash your hair with mild shampoo or apply oil to your hair 2 hours before hair wash.
Eating amla daily
Drink Amla juice 25-20 ml or if you are suffering from excessive hair fall then take half a teaspoon of Amla powder. Take amla in the form of candy or syrup to maintain your healthy hair.
Aloe vera gel
Apply aloe vera gel in hair 30 minutes before hair wash. It helps in making your hair soft naturally.
Hibiscus tea
Drink hibiscus tea daily as it is cooling in nature and nourishes your hair.
Rice water
Apply rice water to hair for 20 minutes and then wash hair with room temperature water.
Natural hair mask
Apply a hair mask made of herbs like buttermilk, amla, hibiscus, neem, aloe vera, etc. once a week.
Yoga and Pranayama
Pranayama like Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, Sheetli, and Shitkari helps in reducing excess pitta from the body which reduces gray hair, also balances your doshas, and reduces the urge to drink cold drinks during summer.
Nasya
Include Nasya in your night routine. Put 2 drops of cow's ghee in both nostrils while sleeping at night. It helps in hair fall, gray hair and improves memory and sleep, and keeps your mind cool.
Anagram
Massage the feet/soles with cow's ghee or coconut oil while sleeping at night. Induces sound sleep and improves blood circulation throughout the body thereby nourishing every organ (from head to toe).
