The government keeps bringing new rules regarding social media. Now the government can make permanent personal account deletion mandatory. Especially for such users who have been away from social media and other internet platforms for a long time. If the information revealed so far is to be believed, then this action can be taken against those users who have been away from social media and internet platforms for the last three years.
This proposal is part of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act which became law in August this year. This has become a topic of discussion among the users and a plan is being made to take immediate action on it. This rule regarding social media can also be applied to e-commerce companies, online marketplaces, gaming companies, and all social media companies. With this, the data of the number of users in India will also be known.
Government action on social media-
An official of the Government of India informed, 'The government had received feedback from social media companies. If the law enforcement agency wants to collect this data, they can do so by closing the account after three years. Also, the concept of taking permission to obtain personal data should also be abolished.
What is the new rule of the government-
The draft states that some publicly available personal healthcare professionals, clinical establishments, medical educational institutions, healthcare professionals, health services, and mental healthcare establishments should be able to access personal and non-personal data. Actually, it will help a lot in doing public health or evidence-based research. Government institutions and authorities will also be able to use this data keeping in mind public health. However, people may have different opinions on this. But this rule has been brought in view of social security.
