The company has confirmed that the process of deleting Gmail accounts will start in December 2023. Such accounts will be deleted which are not active for at least two years. Users who regularly use Gmail, Docs, Calendar, and Photos do not need to worry. That means nothing will happen to active accounts. Cybersecurity is a threat
The new policy has been brought with the aim of enhancing security. Because inactive old accounts are at greater risk of cybercrime. Google had said in a statement that if you have not used your Google account for about 2 years or have not logged in to it, then we can delete the account and its contents. This includes data from Google Workspace, including Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar, and Google Photos.

To avoid the risk of account deletion, Google has advised us to be cautious and follow some easy steps. Before deleting the account, several notifications will be given by Google on both the account e-mail address and the recovery e-mail address. This step is being taken for security reasons. Inactive accounts are more likely to be targeted by criminals. It contains a weak password. There is a lack of two-factor authentication and security checks are also reduced. In such a situation, Google wants you to use an active account in a safe environment.
