Story related to Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi symbolizes the rebirth of the deity and new beginnings. Mythological sources tell that Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from the dirt of her body. The story says that Ganesha was created when Lord Shiva was away and Parvati was preparing to take a bath. So the goddess created Ganesha and kept him on guard. Ganesha followed his mother's instructions and stopped Lord Shiva from entering the house. Both Ganesha and Lord Shiva did not know each other. When stopped by Ganesha, Shiva became angry and beheaded Ganesha. Parvati became angry and threatened to destroy the entire world. Everyone prayed to Lord Shiva to place the head of an abandoned baby elephant on the body of Ganesha. All the gods blessed Ganesha and hence we celebrate that day as Ganesh Chaturthi.

Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi
