Do you also feel irritable all the time? Are you in a bad mood all the time? Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Do you get angry even over small things? This often happens when mood-controlling hormones are deficient in our body. Let us tell you that serotonin is a hormone that controls our mood and is responsible for good sleep. Today we are giving you information about those foods which are very helpful in boosting serotonin levels. Dietician and health expert Lavneet Batra is giving information about this.

These foods can boost happy hormones

  • Banana contains an amino acid called tryptophan. Our body uses tryptophan to produce 5HTP. Let us tell you that 5 HTP is a compound that increases hormones called serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that sends signals to keep our brain happy.
  • Apart from this, you can consume almonds. Almonds contain many nutrients including folate and magnesium. Magnesium plays a big role in the development of serotonin, which is a major contributor to feelings of happiness in your brain. Almonds are also rich in vitamins B2 and E which help strengthen the immune system during times of stress.

Milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid that produces serotonin, which plays an important role in regulating sleep patterns and mood.

  • Pineapple is also an excellent source of serotonin. Consuming pineapple increases the level of serotonin in the brain, which helps in improving the mood. This makes you feel fresh.
  • All products made from soy contain high amounts of tryptophan. In such a situation, if you are a vegetarian, then you can increase the level of serotonin by including tofu, soya cheese, soya milk, and soybean in your diet.
