Nutritionist LavneetBatra has shared a list of a few things and how these foods can be helpful during the change in weather. She says, “Spring is the season of colours. But, the change in weather makes us vulnerable to common infections like colds and coughs. So, here are some foods that can keep you healthy and prevent seasonal diseases.
If the changing weather bothers you too and you easily fall prey to diseases, then definitely include these foods in your diet.
1. Moong Sprouts
The sprouting process enhances the vitamins and minerals. Hence, sprouts are rich in magnesium, phosphorus, manganese and vitamin K. This process also increases the antioxidants in the sprouts. Antioxidants like copper, iron and zinc protect the body from diseases and bacteria.
2. Vitamin-C-rich fruits and vegetables
Our body does not produce Vitamin-C by itself. That's why it becomes necessary that we include foods rich in Vitamin C in the diet. With the change of season, include orange, amla, capsicum, tomato, and cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, kale, cauliflower, broccoli etc.) in your diet.
3. Curd
Natural foods like fermented probiotics and yoghurt contain 'good bacteria'. It helps boost your immunity, keeping you safe this flu season.
4. Garlic
Garlic contains a natural chemical called allicin. It has amazing anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which help fight bacteria and viruses and reduce the risk of getting a cold or flu.
5. Papaya
This fruit is rich in fibre and an enzyme called papain, which improves digestion. It is also rich in Vitamin-C, which helps in boosting immunity.
6. Drumstick
Drumstick, rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, helps fight colds, and flu and ward off many infections. Also, the drumstick is rich in thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin B12. It increases digestive juices and helps the digestive system to function properly.
