Netflix is banning password sharing and now Disney+ is following the same path. According to a report in IANS, Disney+ will start restricting its users from sharing their accounts with people outside their households. The ban on Disney+ will begin on November 1, and Canada will be the first country to experience it. To recall, Disney CEO Bob Iger had hinted about the change during an earnings call in August. The company has reportedly started informing customers about the change through an email.

In the updated subscriber contract, Disney says a home only includes "devices associated with your primary personal residence" and used by the people who live there.

The contract also suggests that Disney+ will introduce new fee options for users who want to add external members to their accounts.

The company is following in the footsteps of Netflix, which officially began restricting password sharing in the US and other countries in May. Details have not been released yet. However, Netflix has set a precedent with its $8 fee per person per month.
