About ten years ago, a Hindi film was released - 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects'. One of its dialogues seems correct in today's context - "Today children are learning sanskar from the maid and driver." Actually, in the film, Vidya Balan needed a nanny for her little daughter and was talking to Ila Arun (who was playing the role of the nanny). When it came to payment, Vidya got confused after knowing her high salary. Then Ila Arun confidently answers "Earlier children used to learn sanskar at home from grandparents, but today this work has come to them. If a wrong nanny comes, then children learn bad habits along with stealing and abusing."
What she said is also true to a large extent. Today when women are stepping out of their homes and returning home late in the evening, in such a situation, the responsibility of raising children has fallen on the maid or in English, the nanny who is kept for their care.
If we look closely, the tradition of nannies in our country is quite old. Earlier, they were called 'day maa'. Rana Sanga's Panna Dhay Maa became immortal in history due to her devotion to duty and sacrifice. Today, this day maa has taken the form of a modern 'nanny'.
The trend of keeping nannies has increased in ordinary families as well, a big reason for which is the change in the structure of joint families to nuclear families. Along with this, women are also going to work, in such a situation, tasks like taking care of children, bringing them to and from school, and taking them back and forth are becoming the responsibility of the nanny. In these circumstances, it is also worth noting that it is better if you appoint a trustworthy and right woman to take care of your child because, in this modern era, crimes are also becoming modern.
In such a situation, it is not a common thing to hand over the responsibility of your child to someone else. You will be able to focus on your work while staying away from the child only when you are completely satisfied with the nanny who is taking care of the child. Therefore, no matter how you are going to hire a nanny, you have to keep some things in mind.
First of all, the investigation
You cannot leave your child with anyone like this. Therefore, before hiring any nanny, do check her background. If you are hiring a nanny from an agency, then do not rely only on the information being presented by the agency, but try to get information about her from your side.
Find out where she used to work before. By doing this, you can learn a lot about her. Also, make sure that she is trustworthy and has experience in handling the child, especially children of the age of your child.
After this, the most important thing is to check the authenticity of her important documents, such as her identity card, voter ID, address, phone number, medical report card, and other important documents. When you are satisfied with everything, make a written contract with the nanny, in which all the things related to her responsibilities, time, and salary are clear. Keep one or two copies of the written contract and all her documents safe with you.
