If you are selling your vehicle or it has been lost, blocking or deactivating your FASTag immediately may be a better option for you. This is because if you do not do so, your FASTag will continue to work at the toll plaza, due to which the new owner of your vehicle may have to pay toll tax.

What to do with FASTag after selling the vehicle? Motor owners may often have this question; along with this the question also remains whether the FASTag account can be deactivated on its own.

To deactivate your FASTag account, you can follow these steps:

  • Visit the FASTag provider website or app.
  • Click on the “Manage your account” or “Deactivate account” option.
  • Log in using your registered mobile number and email ID.
  • Click on the “Deactivate Account” option.
  • Withdraw the amount linked to the FASTag account from your bank account or transfer it to another account.
  • Remove FASTag from your vehicle.

This is another way to deactivate a FASTag account:

  • You can deactivate the account from customer care by calling the toll-free number 1033 of NHAI i.e. National Highway Authority of India.
  • The account can be deactivated by contacting the FASTag provider through email.
  • Keep the ID proof, vehicle registration certificate (RC) and original FASTag documents with you.

Keep these things in mind after deactivating the FASTag account:

  • After removing FASTag from your vehicle, keep it in a safe place for next time use.
  • If you want to use FASTag in future, you can create a new account separately based on the same account details.

Things to keep in mind before deactivating the FASTag account:

  • There should not be any outstanding amount in your FASTag account.
  • Remove FASTag from your vehicle.
  • Contact your FASTag provider to confirm the deactivation of your account.

What will happen to you after deactivating your FASTag account?

  • Your FASTag will no longer work at toll plazas and the account will be closed.
  • Your FASTag provider will refund the amount to your bank account.
