The holy festival of Dussehra is celebrated the next day after the end of Shardiya Navratri. This year Dussehra is being celebrated on 24 October 2023. Dussehra has special significance in the Hindu religion. On this day, Shri Ramchandra, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, killed Lankan King Ravana and won over untruth and unrighteousness, hence this festival is also called Vijayadashami.

Lord Shri Ram, considered to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is said to be an ideal man. Maryada Purushottam is associated with the name of Shri Ram because he always followed Maryada. He was a great king, an ideal son, a high-class disciple, an ideal brother and husband, who will be remembered as such till ages.

Shri Ram followed the path of truth, religion, mercy, and dignity throughout his life. For this reason, his rule was called 'Ram Rajya'. Everyone expects that 'if you have a son then you should be like Ram', if you have a king then you should be like Ram', if you have a character then you should be like Ram'. Lord Shri Ramchandra was very kind. Apart from humans, there were all animals and demons in his army. He made Sugriva the king. Gave Hanuman, Jamwant, and Nal-Neel the right to lead his army. Maintained friendship without any distinction of caste or class. Shabari ate the empty plums with a smile. This is an example of Shri Ram's kind conduct.

Tolerant and patient
A special quality of Lord Shri Ram is his tolerance and patience. Be it 14 years of exile at the behest of Mother Kaikeyi, or living like a monk despite being a king after abandoning Mother Sita, Shri Ram always discharged his duties with tolerance and patience.

Better management
Apart from being an ideal king, Shri Ram was also a skilled manager. He along with his army built a stone bridge to reach Lanka. Better management for that. His army included both animals and humans. The management among them, the better management done to make their rule Ramrajya shows their efficiency.

Ideal son and brother
Shri Ram was the son of Mother Kausalya but was dear to Kaikeyi. Most of all he was close to Mother Kaikeyi. When Mother Kaikeyi asked him to abdicate the position of the king of Ayodhya, he left his comfortable life and went into exile for 14 years. By doing this, he fulfilled the duty of an ideal son and showed brotherly love by renouncing the kingdom for his stepbrother Bharat. He loved his three brothers more than his brothers.
