Ingredients for making Gulab Jamun
- Mawa (Khoya) - 1 cup
- Refined flour - 2 tbsp
- Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Water - 1.5 cups
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- Oil or ghee - for frying
Method
If you want to make Gulab Jamun, then first prepare the syrup. To make it, mix sugar and water in a pan and keep it on medium flame. Now cook it till the sugar dissolves. When the sugar is cooked, add cardamom powder to the syrup. Boil the syrup for 8-10 minutes and prepare one-string syrup. Add rose water to it and turn off the flame. After making the syrup, now you have to prepare Gulab Jamun.
For this, first mash the mawa well so that there are no lumps. After this, add refined flour and baking powder to it and knead soft dough. Prepare small Gulab Jamuns from this flour. Now heat ghee or oil in a pan, keep it on medium to low flame.
Slowly add the Gulab Jamuns to the oil and fry till golden brown. Keep turning it in between so that they get cooked evenly.
Immediately add the fried Gulab Jamuns to the sugar syrup. Leave the Gulab Jamuns in the sugar syrup for 2-3 hours so that they get soaked well in the syrup. Now your tasty and soft Gulab Jamuns are ready.
