Swayamvar of Shri Ram and Mata Sita was held in Naulakha temple.

This temple is considered to be the in-law's house of Lord Shri Ram. It was here that Mother Sita spent her entire childhood and it was here that she got married to MaryadaPurushottam Lord Ram Chandra. Looking at the things present in this temple, you will also realize that its history is linked to Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita.

It was at this place that Lord Shiva's bow was broken for his marriage with Mother Sita. In the courtyard of the temple, you will also find a marriage hall, where Mother Sita and Lord Rama took seven rounds.

Where is the temple located?

The temple is situated at a distance of about 400 kilometers from Kathmandu city of Nepal. The temple is spread over a total of 4860 square meters. It is like a palace, whose beauty will win your heart. It took about 16 years to build this temple.

It is believed that the temple was completed between 1895 AD and 1911 AD. This temple was built by Rajputana Queen VrishabhanuKumari.

Why is it called Naulakha Temple?

About 9 lakh rupees were spent on the construction of this temple. Therefore it was named Naulakha. It is said that a gold idol was found in this temple in 657 AD.

There are a total of 115 ponds around this temple, of which ParshuramSagar, DhanushSagar and Ganga Sagar are considered to be the most famous.
