What is a dial 401 scam?

Cyber thugs call people and mislead them about some things and then ask them to dial *401*. With this number, the fraudsters ask you to dial their number also. They talk like this... Sir, to cancel the parcel dial *401* and this...(thug's number). What they do is that calls coming to your phone number are forwarded to the fraudster's number.

This is how scammers trap people

These cyber fraudsters call people and say that your parcel has arrived, please confirm the address for delivery. When you say that we have not ordered any parcel then they say that it is okay but if this parcel is booked on your number then you will have to cancel it.

To cancel the parcel, they ask you to dial *401*, and along with this you are also asked to dial the number to which they have to forward the call. After this, calls coming to your number are forwarded to the fraudster's number. After that, he takes a new SIM card from your number, and your number is switched off. As soon as the SIM card is issued, the fraudster also breaks into your bank account.

What to do if a call is forwarded by mistake?

Open your calling app and go to Settings.

Go to Settings and click on the option of call forwarding.

Here you will see whether the call is being forwarded or not.

If it is on then turn it off.

In case of a severe problem, call customer care and ask to stop call forwarding.

Note- The government has currently banned this call forwarding, but you need to be careful.
