Diwali is coming. This year the festival of Diwali is being celebrated on 31 October and 1 November 2024. Dhanteras is celebrated two days before Diwali. Deepotsav begins with Dhanteras. It is believed that Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmi are worshiped on Diwali and idols of God are brought home on the day of Dhanteras for worship. The day of Dhanteras is a symbol of wealth and good fortune. Shopping for new things on this day is considered auspicious. However, if you want to worship Dhanteras, then take special care of some things. Avoid making some mistakes during the worship of Dhanteras.

Keep these things in mind on Dhanteras

Clean the entire house thoroughly on the day of Dhanteras. Keep in mind that the house should be kept clean on the occasion of the festival. It is said that where there is cleanliness, God resides there.

Ganesha and Mata Lakshmi are worshipped on Diwali, while on Dhanteras, there is a custom of worshipping Lord Dhanvantari.

On Dhanteras, all the useless items should be thrown out of the house. Buying a broom on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. Broom is also considered a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi.

On this auspicious day, one should worship the cow and feed bread or green fodder to the cow.

Keep in mind that sharp objects are not purchased on Dhanteras. Do not buy knives or any sharp objects on this day.

Shopping on Dhanteras is auspicious but household items should not be sold on this day.

If you want to do charity on Dhanteras, you should do charity. However, if you are donating, do not donate rice at all.

On the occasion of Dhanteras, do not cook onion, garlic, egg or meat etc. in the kitchen of the house. If possible, avoid consuming them as well.

Shopping should be done on this auspicious day but do not lend money to anyone.

On Dhanteras, light a lamp or do good lighting in every corner of the house. There should not be darkness in the house on this day.
