Situation is worsening in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
Dengue cases are gaining momentum in many other states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Uttar Pradesh, according to government data, 24 people have died so far, however, this toll may increase if data from private hospitals is also included. The number of dengue cases in the state has crossed 13,000. More than 600 new cases of dengue have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, 373 new cases were registered in Bihar in the last 24 hours. A maximum of 178 cases have been reported from Patna district alone. The number of dengue cases in the state so far this year has reached 11,675, including 4,940 cases in October alone.

Cases are increasing in the national capital
Talking to Amar Ujala, Dr. Aamir Siddiqui of the Emergency Medicine Department at a hospital in Greater Noida says, these days, most of the patients coming to OPD with the complaint of fever are being diagnosed with dengue. The problem of rapid falling of blood platelets is being seen in many people, which can be the cause of severe hemorrhagic dengue. Such patients may need to be admitted to the hospital.

Delaying treatment in severe cases of dengue can lead to disease progression and other health complications.

Risk of serious disease due to DEN-2 strain
Delhi has seen a rapid increase in dengue cases in the last one and a half months. While the number of dengue cases in the state stood at 348 as of August 5, it rose to more than 3,200 by the end of September. According to the information received from hospitals, this time the severe DEN-2 strain of dengue has been detected in the state, due to which the risk of developing serious disease may be higher.

One in four families become victims of mosquito-borne diseases
A nationwide survey on dengue-malaria and chikungunya has found that almost one in four families fell victim to mosquito-borne diseases in the last three years. In a survey of 58,000 people across 327 districts conducted by the community social media platform LocalCircles, 73 percent of people claimed that municipal corporations in their cities have not worked proactively to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the last few years. If caution had been taken and adequate measures had been taken during monsoon days, the increase in cases could have been prevented.
