How To Remove Dandruff: Dandruff is a common hair problem, which is being faced by a large number of people these days. Due to dandruff, the problem of itching is experienced in the head. It feels as if the layer of skin is falling off. Some people get dandruff due to changing weather. While some people have this problem throughout the year. There are some reasons for dandruff, such as oily scalp infection, excessive use of shampoos, formation of dead skin, growth of a yeast called Malassezia, gels, hair curlers and hairspray etc. Wrong use of hair colouring products or excessive shampooing can also cause dandruff.
Will applying oil make dandruff go away?
Dermatologist Jayashree Sharad told on Instagram that instead of getting relief by applying oil, the problem of dandruff can increase further. Applying more oil to the hair leads to the overgrowth of a yeast called Malassezia on the scalp, due to which dandruff can increase.
Choose the right product
Dermatologist Sharad has appealed to people to choose the right product, which contains 2 percent ketoconazole zinc pyrithione, 2 percent selenium sulfide or ciclopirox. Also, don't just wash your hair with anti-dandruff shampoo, also let it soak into the scalp. Take a capful of anti-dandruff shampoo, then add a few drops of water and massage your scalp with it just like oil. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and then wash it with water. You can also use your regular shampoo conditioner in this manner.
You have to do this continuously. This is because 1-2 washes are not enough to remove dandruff. You have to use it once or twice a week for about 6 to 8 weeks. Jayashree Sharad says that if your dandruff persists then you may have inflammatory disorders like psoriasis, sebopsoriasis etc. For this, you should consult a dermatologist.
