Pulses are considered an integral part of our diet. Due to the abundance of protein in them, it is also very beneficial in terms of nutrition. In such a situation, pulses are consumed daily in most of the houses. There are many types of pulses and they have a specific taste. The method of making them varies. Today we will tell you how to make a Gujarati dish which is quite popular. You will enjoy eating these dhoklis made from pigeon peas. Its recipe is also easy.

Ingredients for making dal (Ingredients)
1 cup - Arhar dal
2 spoons – peanuts
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Half spoon cumin
1 pinch – Asafoetida
1 - whole red chilli
5-6 – curry leaves
1 - finely chopped onion
1 - finely chopped tomato
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
Half teaspoon turmeric
Half teaspoon of red chili powder
Half a teaspoon of cumin powder
Half teaspoon coriander powder
Half teaspoon garam masala
Jaggery
salt as per taste
1 teaspoon lemon juice
finely chopped coriander

Ingredients for making Dhokli
1 cup wheat flour
Half teaspoon turmeric
Half teaspoon of red chili powder
Half teaspoon oregano
salt as per taste
Oil

Recipe for making dal
- First of all, wash the lentils 2-3 times.
- After this, add 1 cup dal, 2 cups water, peanuts, and 1 teaspoon oil to the cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles. Mash the lentils.
- Add one spoon of ghee, a pinch of asafoetida, one spoon of mustard, half a spoon of cumin, one whole red chili, and 5-6 curry leaves in the pan and fry.
Fry finely chopped onion in it. When the onion turns golden brown, add finely chopped tomato and ginger-garlic paste and fry.
- Add boiled lentils to it. Add one cup of water and mix well.
- After mixing the pulses, add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala.
- Stir it well and then add jaggery, salt, and one spoon of lemon juice to it. Boil the dal again.

Method to make Dhokli (Recipe)
- First of all, add one cup of wheat flour, turmeric, chili powder, carom seeds, salt, and 2 teaspoons oil in a vessel.
- After adding spices, knead the flour. Do not knead too tightly.
- Make balls of dough. Roll it into the desired shape. If you want, you can shape it like saltpeter.
Now add the dhokli pieces to the boiling dal and mix well.
- Add dhokli, cover the dal, and cook for 10-15 minutes. Lastly, add finely chopped coriander. Serve it with roti or rice.
