The new variant of Corona remains a cause of concern for health experts. Due to this, a rapid increase in the number of infected cases is being recorded in many countries. In India, infection has been confirmed in 760 people in the last 24 hours, with this the number of active cases in the country has now increased to 4423. Health experts say, JN.1 is seen increasing the risk of coronavirus globally, hence all people need to be cautious to prevent it.
Studies conducted so far to understand the JN.1 variant show that most people are experiencing mild levels of symptoms in case of infection. The risk of taking a serious form of the disease can mostly be in those people who already suffer from comorbidities or whose immunity is weak.
Meanwhile, UK researchers said that two new symptoms are being seen in the infected here, these symptoms can also have many serious side effects. Let us know about this.
Two new symptoms emerged
Reports so far suggest that most of the people infected with the JN.1 variant are showing symptoms similar to the older Omicron variant. However, according to the UK Office of National Statistics, two new symptoms – difficulty in sleeping and anxiety problems – have been reported in some infected people. These two symptoms may be accompanied by other symptoms such as runny nose, cough, headache-weakness, fever and body aches.
Health experts said it is important for all people to know these symptoms of corona and take precautions to prevent infection.
Other symptoms of coronavirus and their rates
Health experts said, that in the case of corona infection, the most common symptoms are runny nose (31.1 percent), cough (22.9 percent), headache (20.1 percent), fatigue (19.6 percent), muscle pain (15.8 percent), and sore throat. Problems (13.2 percent), difficulty in sleeping (10.8 percent), and anxiety (10.5 percent) are being seen prominently. Difficulty in sleeping and anxiety problems can also have long-term health side effects, which is important to be careful about.
What do health experts say?
UK health experts say, although most cases of JN.1 cause mild symptoms, the risk of severity is less than 10%. The overall mortality rate is less than 2%, with most patients recovering at home. This makes it clear that the new variant is infectious but the risk of serious disease due to it is not high. However, if the pace of infection remains high and is not controlled, there may be a risk of a new variant emerging in the coming months.
JN.1 variant has a higher transmission capacity
Health organizations say we are seeing a global increase in COVID-19 infections, which is evidence that the new variant has a higher infectivity rate. WHO has reported a 52% increase in new cases in the past months. The JN.1 variant, which has an additional mutation (L455S) in the spike protein of Omicron's BA.2.86 variant (also known as Pirola), is said to have higher transmissibility. Health experts have urged all people to wear masks, wash hands frequently, and avoid public gatherings to avoid infection. The mistake of taking Corona lightly should not be made.
