The threat of Corona is seen increasing rapidly in many countries of the world. The new variants FLiRT (KP.1 and KP.2) have increased the infection cases in many countries including Singapore, the USA, and India in a short time. Due to this new variant in Singapore, the cases of infection have increased by more than 90 percent in just 15 days. The cases of the new variant in India have crossed the figure of 325.

According to preliminary studies, in the sample testing of most of the infected, the KP.2 variant is being considered as the main cause of infection. Some tendencies of the new variant make it dangerous, for which it is necessary to take special precautions.

According to the study report, Filart is also a part of Omicron, although some additional mutations have been observed in it which have increased the concern of experts. To protect against new variants of Corona and the problems caused by it, some experts have been recommending getting the COVID-19 vaccine annually.

The nature of new variants is dangerous
According to information shared by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the new mutations observed in KP.1 and KP.2 variants may increase their infectious potential. This variant is easily successful in dodging the immune system formed by the vaccine or previous infection in the body. The nature of the new variant makes it dangerous. In such a situation, even vaccinated people cannot be considered completely safe from the new variants.

Lower risk of serious symptoms
Dr. Scott Roberts, an infectious diseases expert at Yale Medicine, explains that most people infected with the new variants are experiencing only mild symptoms. Patients may suffer from cough, fever, sore throat, and diarrhea along with various gastric problems. In rare cases, especially in those with comorbidities, pneumonia and shortness of breath may occur.

Doctors say that most of the people are experiencing only mild symptoms and they are recovering easily. However, the need for hospitalization or ICU of the infected people is being seen less.

Ways to prevent corona
CDC experts said the risk of serious illness and death from the new variants has been reported to be low, although it can be highly contagious, so it is important to continue to protect against corona. To avoid the risks of infection, it is advised to follow social distancing, maintain hand hygiene, and use masks. KP.2 has been classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a 'Variant Under Monitoring'.

Vaccination is the most effective solution
CDC said in its report that vaccination is still the most effective way to protect against the dangers of corona. The risks of infection can be reduced with the help of vaccines. In a report, the team of scientists studying Corona said that as the Coronavirus is getting mutated again and again, like the flu, COVID-19 vaccines should also be given every year.
