If you think that acne happens only to teenagers, then it is not at all true. This can bother you at any age. If I give my example, my face used to be fair in my teenage years. However, now pimples and acne keep appearing on my face. It also depends on skin type and hormonal changes.

Many women undergo many expensive treatments to cure acne. At the same time, some insist on home remedies. But if you look at the basic skincare routine, many women do not complete it.

If your skin is oily, there may be more pimples and acne due to excessive oil on the skin. Let us tell you 3 effective steps by following which you can take care of your skin, but before that, know about the causes of acne.

Why does acne occur?

You must be aware that there are small glands in our skin, whose job is to produce sebum. When there is a change in hormones or due to other skin conditions, these glands start producing excessive sebum. Due to this the pores of your skin start closing. This later causes acne. This happens to teenagers due to hormonal changes during puberty. At the same time, this can also happen due to menstrual cycle and taking birth control pills.

Not only this but when you are under stress, your body produces more cortisol. This also stimulates the oil glands, leading to outbreaks.

After the pores are closed, you also see variations in acne-

Some women start having problems with excessive whiteheads. Sometimes blackheads, pimples and cystic acne also start appearing on your face.

Try this skincare routine to get rid of acne

The first thing you should do is remove makeup and other products from your skin. Apart from this, please check the ingredients of whatever product you are using. Look for the words oil-free and non-comedogenic before using a product for your oily skin. Apart from this, follow this 3 steps routine-

Step-1: Clean your face properly

Reduce the use of scrubby face wash or cleanser on acne-prone skin. It is important to remove dirt from the face, but over-exfoliation can increase your problem. Routine cleansing is important, but keep in mind that acne is an inflammatory condition, so any kind of over-cleansing can further irritate your skin.

Use a foam cleanser that contains salicylic acid on your skin. This will help in removing dead skin cells without damaging your skin layer. If you have red skin and inflammatory acne, use a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide, which will help reduce redness and irritation.

Step 2: Apply acne treatment medication

After thoroughly cleansing your face, pat your face dry. After this, apply acne cream on the advice of your dermatologist. Your doctor may suggest a treatment containing salicylic acid. This is one such ingredient that can help you a lot in reducing acne. Salicylic acid helps in opening clogged pores and removes dead skin cells. Not only this, it also cleans excessive oil.

If you are using over-the-counter treatments, keep in mind that it may take at least 6 months for your problem to subside.

Step 3: Use the gel best moisturizer

If you are worried about oily skin and clogged pores, then you should use gel-based moisturizer for yourself.

Moisturizer also helps in reducing minor irritation caused by acne creams. Keep in mind that your moisturizer should also be non-comedogenic. You can apply moisturizer with Aloe Vera and hyaluronic Acid. At the same time, the one which contains ingredients like salicylic acid is also a good option for you.

Whatever your skin type, don't forget to apply sunscreen. Apart from this, follow not only the morning routine but also the night routine properly.
