Mount Mary Basilica

Mount Mary Basilica is located in Bandra, Mumbai. Its official name is The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount and it is a 100-year-old Roman Catholic basilica. The idol inside was brought by the Jesuits from Portugal in the 16th century. It is believed that even if a person prays here, it is fulfilled in this basilica. Such is the popularity of this church that the hill on which it is situated is now commonly known as Mount Mary Hill.

St Michael's Church

A large number of people visit St. Michael's Church located on Lady Jamshedji Road in Mumbai. It was built between 1512 and 1585 and is the oldest Christian house in the city. It suffered some damage during the invasions of 1687 under the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb but was soon restored. The modern building was constructed in 1973 after its portico collapsed in the 1960s.

Afghan Church

Afghan Church is located in Colaba, Mumbai. The name of this church is the Church of St. John the Evangelist, also known as the Afghan Church, as it was built in the 1850s to commemorate the defeat and the death of the First Afghan War of 1838. It is easily recognized by its 198 ft high tower.

St Thomas Cathedral

St. Thomas Cathedral was first built in 1718 and is one of the largest churches in Mumbai. This church is certainly the epitome of the grandeur of the Gothic architecture. Its stained glass windows, stucco work on the walls and high ribbed-vaulted ceilings grab your attention at once. Also worth seeing here is the memorial to Reverend Thomas Carr, who served as the first Bishop of Mumbai. This church is seen as a heritage of Mumbai.

Gloria Church

Gloria Church is also known as Our Lady of Glory Church. The Gloria Church was initially built by Frenchmen, who came from Portugal. However, this church in Mumbai was later rebuilt as a Victorian Gothic building. The tall towers of this church can be seen from a long distance. The first thing you see when you come here is a marble statue of Jesus, who invites you inside with open arms. If you have ever seen Amar Akbar Anthony or Rockstar, you will immediately recognize this church. Its interiors are mostly white.
