What is a pap test?
Pap test is also called pap smear test. This is a routine screening procedure to detect cervical cancer. This test is done to detect cancer cells growing in the cervix.

How is pap testing done?
In this test, cells are gently scraped from your cervix and the changes in them are examined. This test is done in the doctor's lab. This may be a little uncomfortable, but it does not cause any pain in the long run.

Do you need a pap test?
According to the American Cancer Society, every woman after 25 years of age should get a Pap test done once every 5 years. So that you can detect diseases like cancer in time. Apart from this, this routine test proves to be very helpful for sexually active women.
