Dating apps need no introduction now. Everyone from married to single people uses this app. In India too, lakhs of people are using dating apps. Many apps are quite popular and many are new apps. Dating apps are linked to controversies like Blouse and Daman. News about dating apps keeps coming frequently. There might be many of you who might be using these dating apps, but you will be surprised to know that these dating apps are not at all safe in terms of data privacy.

A report that came a few days ago said that all dating apps sell the data of users to advertising agencies and companies. They get a huge amount in return for this. According to a report by the Mozilla Foundation, 22 out of 25 dating apps do not follow their privacy policy. They deal with the personal data of their users and sell the data to advertisers. Many of these have a history of data leaks.

These apps keep personal information optional but later do not allow the apps to be used without giving information. These apps also take access to the current location of the users and if location access is not given, then these apps do not work.

Many times these apps track the location of the users even when they are not using the apps. 25% of these apps also collect metadata. For example, when you click a photo, its metadata contains information like phone model, location, aperture, etc. Experts have advised against logging in to dating apps using your social account.
