Cancer, an increasingly serious health problem globally, is also one of the leading causes of death. Health experts say that the risk of cancer is increasing in people of all ages, in such a situation, it becomes necessary to keep trying to prevent it from an early age. Every year lakhs of people die due to cancer. Recent statistics related to this are even more worrying, in which it has been told that over time, younger people are falling prey to it.

In a study conducted to find out the increasing risk of death due to cancer, researchers said that the risk of cancer disease and death due to it is increasing rapidly in people under the age of 50.

According to a study published in the journal BMJ Oncology, there has been a significant 79 percent increase in new cases of cancer among people under the age of 50 worldwide in the last 30 years. The cases of tracheal and prostate cancer are the most reported during this period which is raising concerns. Health experts say that all people need to make continuous efforts to prevent cancer.

Risk increases with time
The team led by researchers from the University of Edinburgh reported that cases of bronchial and prostate cancer have increased at the fastest rate since 1990. Breast cancer cases were the highest reported in early 2019, but the risk remains. The highest number of deaths are still being reported due to breast, trachea, lung, intestine, and stomach cancers.

Researchers said that in this study findings have been made about its increased risks in people under 50 years of age, and we need to take this threat seriously.

What did the study find?
Based on Global Burden of Disease 2019 data compiled for 29 types of cancer in 204 countries, researchers say that between 1990 and 2019, a big change has been seen in the incidence of cancer among those aged 14 to 49 years. In 2019, the number of new cancer diagnoses among people under 50 was 1.82 million, a 79 percent increase from the 1990 figure.

Health experts say that it is important for all people to keep making efforts to protect themselves from the risk of cancer.

Danger in the years to come
Experts have warned about the increasing risks of cancer, saying that with the speed with which cancer cases are increasing, there is a possibility that its risk may increase further. Experts estimate that new cancer cases could increase by 31 percent and related deaths by 21 percent by 2030. Its age is also seen decreasing with time, people above 40 years of age can also be at risk.
