Breast cancer is a very common cancer and cause of death in women. According to the World Health Organization, there are 670 000 deaths due to breast cancer worldwide in 2022. In this cancer, breast cells start growing excessively and form tumors.

If it is not started in time then this tumor starts spreading to other parts of the body. Due to this quality of breast cancer, many times the patient does not survive even after surgery. But now this may not be the case because scientists are developing a device that fits inside the bra and can see whether the breast cancer tumor is growing or not.

Invention is happening here
The device is being developed by the Medical Technology Innovation Facility of Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Researchers hope the device will provide a new non-invasive way to detect tumor growth that patients can use in the comfort of their homes.

This is how the device will work
This device will scan and detect small changes in the fluids inside and outside the cells in the breast with the help of an electrical current. Because tumor tissue is denser than healthy tissue and contains less water, the device will be able to measure tumor changes and growth down to 2 mm in real-time.

Easy to use
Researchers say that the patient can use this device by keeping it in a bra. Or it could be developed into a new bra that would include a device that would record data and send it to the wearer and their medical team via smartphone.

The patient's chances of survival may increase
Dr. Yang Wei, an expert in electronic textile and electronics engineering at NTU, says that this technology will help improve the patient's chances of survival. Because breast cancer tumors can grow by 1 mm in six months or 2 mm in six weeks. In such a situation, it is very important to track it for its treatment.
