What can be the causes of back pain? Well, heredity, bad posture, diet, physical health, any old injury, and many more can be involved. The bra can also be an important reason for back pain in women. A study believes that 80% of women around the world wear ill-fitting bras. This can not only cause a lot of pain in the back but can also cause complaints of breast pain. Wearing the wrong bra can also lead to breast sagging. In many cases, bra fat also starts accumulating on the back and the body looks shapeless.
But why wear an ill-fitting bra? Is it possible to complain of back pain just by wearing a bra? What does the research say about it? Today we will answer all these questions in our story.
What does the research say about back pain and bras?
A study was conducted on 100 pre-menopausal women at the University Hospital of Wales. In this study, women were asked not to wear a bra for three months. After not wearing a bra for three months, she was again made to wear a bra for three months. In this study, it was found that the health issues related to the breast of women were reduced when they did not wear a bra. It was found in this study that women need breast support, but due to bra straps, they can feel a lot of pain and discomfort.
Many women wear the wrong bra size and due to this, they have back and waist problems. Women who have more fat may also have trouble in the neck due to tight bra straps.
Why is the wrong size bra worn?
Bra design can also be a reason behind wearing the wrong bra. Many stylish bras have different sizes. In this case, the breast cup or brand size is worn wrong. Fitting in the right size bra is good, but looks are not good. Perhaps this is the reason why women feel so troubled. Many times women do not choose the right fitting bra for themselves just because of laziness.
Not only this, but a study also believes that women themselves are not aware of their proper fitting. In such times, women get confused about cup size or band size. An ill-fitting or poorly designed bra can restrict the movement of the rib cage. In such a situation, your shoulders can lean forward, which can cause problems like shoulder pain, neck pain, and bad posture. In addition, a burning sensation may also be felt between the shoulders and rib cage.
How to prevent bra back pain?
You do not need to worry as there are many remedies to prevent back pain caused by bras. If your condition is more serious then medical advice may be needed.
- The shape and size of the breast keep on changing, so check the size every six months and change the bra if needed.
- Stand in front of the mirror and see the bra fitting. If the bra bulges out, the straps are too tight, there is a burning or stinging feeling or the breasts are hanging, then the bra size is wrong.
- Lean forward with the bra on and watch the wire placement. If the wire is below the breast, then it is okay. If it is climbing up then it means that your bra fitting is wrong.
- Also, check whether the centre part of the bra is in between your two breasts or not.
- Always choose a bra made of stretchable fabric. Breast size can change according to the period cycle. That's why breast support should be given completely.
- If the breast bulge is coming out from the side of the arm hole, there are red marks in the breast or there are marks of straps, then the bra is too tight. This needs to change.
If the above options seem correct to you, then it means that you are wearing the wrong bra size. If you wear an ill-fitting bra for years, it may have resulted in a permanent loss of posture. If the back pain has become too much, then definitely contact the doctor at once. The right-fitting bra will also make you look slimmer and protect you from many health issues.
