Central and state governments are running many schemes to secure the economic and social future of daughters. These include help with expenses ranging from daughters' education to marriage. If parents show little awareness and take advantage of government schemes, they will be relieved from the stress of their daughters' education and marriage expenses.

Who is Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana for?
This scheme of the UP government is for the BPL (Below Poverty Line) families. Its purpose is to promote the birth of daughters. Besides, we also have to help the family financially, so that there is not too much financial burden on the family. Through this, the government wants to root out social evil like feticide.
What benefits are available in the scheme?
Under Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana, the UP government gives a bond of Rs 50,000 at the time of the birth of a girl child. When the daughter turns 21 years old, this bond will mature to Rs 2 lakh. The mother also gets financial assistance of Rs 5100.
The government also gives Rs 23 thousand for education. This financial assistance is not available in a lump sum but in installments. For example, a daughter will get Rs 3000 when she reaches sixth class, Rs 5000 when she reaches eighth, Rs 7000 when she reaches 10th, and Rs 8000 when she reaches 12th.
All girls born in BPL families after March 31, 2006, can take advantage of Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana. But, they should not be married below the age of 18 years. Only two daughters of a family can avail of this benefit.
Which documents will be required?
The first condition to avail of the benefits of Bhagya Laxmi Yojana is that you should be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh. In this, the Aadhaar cards of parents and daughters are included. The daughter's birth certificate and passport-size photograph are also required.
Also, there should be an income certificate, caste certificate, and residence certificate. To avail of financial assistance, a bank passbook will also be required.

- Download the Bhagya Lakshmi Yojana form and take its printout.
- Enter all the information asked in the form.
- Submit it to Anganwadi Center or Women and Child Development Office.
- After investigation, the benefits of the scheme will start coming.
