Men often think that their age does not matter when it comes to having a child and that the biological clock is important only for the child-bearing mother. However, the number and quality of sperm decline with age. The late 20s to early 30s is the best time for a man to become a father. However, men can father a child at the age of 50 years and above. Nevertheless, researchers have found that the quality of a man's sperm is affected by many other factors along with age. There are certain standards regarding sperm donation of men in the country as well, let's know.

What is sperm donation?
Sperm donation means a fertile man donating his semen to an infertile couple or an individual to help them conceive a baby But not everyone can donate sperm. Sperm donors have to undergo a complete medical check-up before donating sperm. The criteria to be fulfilled are as follows:

Most sperm banks prefer donors between the age of 18 to 39 years. Some sperm banks set an upper age limit of 34 years.

Psychological evaluation
A psychiatrist decides the best sperm based on psychological and emotional examination of the sperm donor.

Health and medical history
The complete medical and family history of the sperm donor is asked. If there is any genetic or hereditary disorder in the medical history, then the sperm of such people is not considered correct.
