Tansen's Tomb

The famous singer of the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar and the great musician of the country, Tansenwas born in the city of Gwalior. It is said that there was a magic in his singing, listening to which nature also became intoxicated. These were also included in the nine gems of Akbar. He took music lessons from his guru Muhammad Ghaus. Tansen was buried on the premises along with his guru and the entire complex is famous as Tansen Memorial. Sas-Bahu Temple

The name of the temple is originally Sahastrabahu, the name of Lord Vishnu, but over time it became famous as Saas-Bahu Temple due to the wrong pronunciation of people. This temple is quite beautiful despite being old. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple was built in the 9th century during the reign of King Mahipala of the Kachhapaghat dynasty. The architecture and beautiful carvings of this temple attract tourists.

Padawali and Bateshwar

Bateshwar Temple is located at a distance of about 1 hour from Gwalior. There are many big and small temples here. According to the Archaeological Department, this group of temples must have been built during the reign of the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty. All the temples here are dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Maa Shakti. The group of temples is also called Bateshwar temple or Batesara temple site. Nearby is Padavali, an old temple of Lord Shiva built in the 10th century. Its architecture and carvings are worth seeing. Many erotic carvings can also be seen in the structure of this temple. Hence it is also known as Mini Khajuraho.

Man Mandir Palace

The Man Mandir Palace was built by Tomar ruler Man Singh Tomar between 1486 and 1516. Many historical events have happened in this palace. Although the palace is now in ruins, its remains show its beautiful architecture and carvings. It was in this palace that the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb had taken his brother Murad captive and then poisoned and killed him.
