Anxiety and nervousness have become a common part of today's busy life. These not only affect your mental health but can also cause physical problems. But there is no need to panic, you can reduce these problems by adopting some easy measures.
Ayurveda expert Dr. Dimple Jangra shared a post on her Instagram account and explained some ways to relieve anxiety and nervousness. Let us know about them.
1. Box breathing
The first solution is box breathing. In this breathing exercise, you inhale for a count of four seconds, hold for four seconds, then exhale for four seconds and finally keep the lungs empty for four seconds. This is called box breathing. It helps reduce anxiety by reducing the sympathetic system (fight-or-flight response) when stressed and activating the relaxation and digestive systems. You can practice box breathing 15 times every hour. Remember not to eat anything during extreme anxiety as this will only lead to emotional eating and more stress in the digestive system.
2. Moong Dal Khichdi
Once it cools down, you can eat Moong Dal Khichdi. Rice, some vegetables, and a little ghee are added to it. In Ayurveda, it is considered a 'gross' substance. Moong Dal Khichdi helps in balancing the body due to its heavy and stable nature. You can eat avocado on fresh bread or add one spoonful of honey to curd. Apart from this, you can also eat root vegetables like baked sweet potatoes or boiled carrots. These things help you stay grounded.
3. Walking barefoot
Walking barefoot helps expel negative energy through the pores on the soles of your feet and helps you connect with the ground. In Ayurveda, treatments like Shirodhara, Takradhara, Nasyam, and even Abhyangam help in reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Besides, Ayurvedic medicines like Saraswatarishta are also helpful in brain development, increasing memory, and strength, and reducing the symptoms of depression.
