If you also use Gmail then there is big news for you. Google is going to discontinue a 10-year-old feature of its Gmail. Google is going to eliminate the basic HTML view of Gmail. It will start from January 2023. For your information, let us tell you that the basic HTML view of Gmail shows the e-mail to the users in a different way.
In this mode, Google's apps like search, images, and maps are supported on the Gmail page itself. HTML mode was designed for slow Internet connections and older browsers. In this mode, Gmail appears in small text. This is a very old mode which is hardly being used now. So now Google is going to shut it down.
Giving this information on its support page, Google has said that only standard view mode will be available from January 2024. Now only standard mode will be available by default in the browser or Gmail app. The basic HTML mode that usually appears when you log in to Gmail in the browser is being phased out. Currently, if you want to view Gmail in HTML mode, Google will alert you first.
These features are not available in the HTML version
Many features like spell check, chat, search filter, keyboard shortcuts, and text formatting are not available in the HTML version. Apart from the HTML version of Gmail, Google is also going to shut down its Google Podcasts. The Google Podcasts app will be discontinued by the end of 2024.
