Due to disturbances in lifestyle and diet, the risk of many types of health problems has been seen increasing rapidly in the last one or two decades. Health experts say, now even younger people are now being found victims of chronic diseases, which not only causes additional pressure on the health sector but also has many social and economic disadvantages.

Diseases and disasters emerge as causes of death and disability. Similarly, World Health Day is celebrated every year on 7 April with the aim of focusing people's attention on various health issues and increasing awareness about prevention.

The theme of this World Health Day is 'My Health-My Right' i.e. My Health-My Right. This year's theme focuses on promoting quality health services, safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, and quality housing, thereby providing better health to everyone.

Problems caused by air pollution
Health experts say that not only are our health being negatively affected due to disturbances in lifestyle and diet, but many types of environmental factors are also being seen causing serious damage to our health. Studies have been alerting about air pollution and the health problems caused by it.

Air pollution is commonly blamed for respiratory problems, but it may actually pose a host of other health risks, researchers say.

Effect on lung capacity
The team of researchers said long-term exposure to air pollution may increase the risk of developing many serious lung diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). People who have pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or bronchitis may be at risk of having these problems triggered by air pollution. The tiny particles present in polluted air can also have a negative impact on the functioning of the heart.

Risk of brain diseases
Air pollution is considered harmful to lung and respiratory health as well as brain health. Air pollution can have both short-term and long-term side effects. Researchers found that there is a risk of damage to our brain cells due to pollutants, which can cause problems like communication problems and memory loss. People exposed to high levels of air pollution have also been shown to experience anxiety and depression.

Hormonal imbalance-reproductive problems
There has also been an alert regarding the adverse effects of air pollution on reproductive health. Researchers said that pollution can have a negative impact on the sexual health of both men and women. Exposure to pollution has been shown to increase the problem of hormonal imbalance in women, which can affect fertility and increase the risks of infertility.
