There is a lot of relief in the rain from the dry air of AC. In sticky weather, the fan and cooler provide plenty of moist air. For the air conditioner to work well, we should keep taking care of it properly. Those who have AC installed in their house must have noticed many times that some strange smell is coming from AC.
Some people leave the AC on-off, and many people feel that something else is smelling in the room. Although this does not happen. If the AC smells, there can be many reasons for it, which should not be ignored.
If you smell dirty socks coming out of the AC, it could mean that there is a build-up of mildew in the condensate tray or water tray, drain nozzle, and drain pipe. Due to the humidity outside, mold can also form in a dusty air filter.
That's why it is very important to clean the air filter, and water tray during the rainy season. If not cleaned properly, fungus and mold can develop over time, reducing the life of the indoor body and evaporator.
If you smell rotten eggs, it could mean that some animal has died inside the air conditioner unit. It can be an insect, lizard, or small bird. This is more possible in window AC. Clean it as soon as possible.
If you smell car smoke from the air conditioner while sitting in your room, it means refrigerant leakage or any other fluid leakage in the AC. If it is gas leakage then it means that there is a hole in the coil.
If the gas goes out then your AC will not do cooling. To get it rectified, contact an AC professional and get your AC checked for leakage and gas pressure.
