The government has extended the limit period for updating Aadhaar for free by three months. Earlier also it was extended for three months, after which the last date for updating Aadhaar was 14 September, but the government has once again given relief, which will benefit crores of people in the country. It has been made mandatory to update all Aadhaar older than 10. If you have an Aadhaar card older than 10 years, then you have to get it updated.
UIDAI has posted on the social media platform X that #UIDAI has extended the free online document upload facility till 14 December 2024. This free service is available only on #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI is encouraging people to keep the documents updated in their #Aadhaar.
These documents will be needed.
You will need two important documents for the Aadhaar update. First identity card and second address proof. Usually, a fee of Rs 50 is charged at the Aadhaar center for an Aadhaar update, but according to UIDAI, this service is free till 14 December. You can give a PAN card as identity proof and voter card for address.
Go to the UIDAI website from mobile or laptop. After this click on the option of update Aadhaar. Now login through OTP by entering Aadhaar number. After this click on document update and verify.
Now upload the scanned copy of your identity card and address proof from the drop list below. Now click on submit. After this you will get a request number and the form will be submitted. You will also be able to check the status of the update from the request number. After a few days, your Aadhaar will be updated.
