Process Of Updation: To update, proof of relationship with the head of the family and OTP on mobile will be required.
Aadhaar Address Online Update Facility: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now allowed citizens to update their address in their Aadhaar online with the consent of their Head of Family. Information about making this facility available was given in an official statement on Tuesday. A fresh process can be initiated after the production of any one of the documents like ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, passport, etc. mentioning the name of both the applicant and the Head of the Family (HOF) and the relationship between them. For this process, OTP will be required from the mobile number of the head of the family.
Self Declaration Form will have to be given if Relation Documents are not available
In case of non-availability of relationship documents, the head of the family can give his consent by self-declaration on the prescribed format of UIDAI. “The facility to update address online through Head of Family in Aadhaar will be of great help to relatives of citizens such as children, spouse, parents, etc., who do not have the facility to update the address in their Aadhaar,” the statement said. There is no supporting document in my name. With people moving to cities and towns within the country for various reasons, such a facility would be beneficial for lakhs of people.”
To update one has to go to the 'My Aadhaar' portal
"Any resident above the age of 18 years can be the head of a household for this purpose and share his or her address with his or her relatives through this process," the statement said. Residents can visit the 'My Aadhaar' portal to update their addresses online.
Thereafter, the citizen will be allowed to enter the Aadhaar number of the head of the household, which will only be validated. To maintain adequate confidentiality of the head, no other information on his/her Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen. After successful verification of the Aadhaar number of the head of the family, the citizen has to upload the Proof of Relationship document.
The process explained, “Citizens will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 for the service. After successful payment, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be shared with the citizen, and an SMS will be sent to the head of the household regarding the address request. The statement said, “The head has to approve the request and give his consent by logging into the 'My Aadhaar' portal within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notification. After that, changes will be made to it.
If the principal refuses to share his or her address or does not accept or reject the service request number (SRN) within the stipulated 30 days, the request will be closed. Citizens who update their addresses through this option will be informed about the action through SMS. The amount will not be refunded to the applicant if the head does not accept or rejects it during the process.
