The Indian Premier League has had an impact on the cricket world for the last several years. Seeing this, T20 cricket leagues have started in many other countries as well. The situation has now become such that in some of the new leagues, the IPL franchise owners have also bought teams and its greater impact is going to be seen now. According to reports, Mumbai Indians are preparing to do such a deal with fast bowler Joffra Archer, which will affect the England cricket team.

Just a few days back, a British media report claimed that some of the IPL franchises are discussing signing year-long contracts with 5-6 international stars from England. England's problems will increase

Now again the report of a UK news website has made a sensational claim. The Daily Mail report claimed that the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians is preparing to offer a contract worth crores of rupees to England pacer Archer. If Archer is ready for this contract, then he will be seen playing for the franchise of Mumbai Indians in different tournaments around the world including IPL throughout the year.

Its biggest impact will be on the England cricket team. Under the contract, the England Cricket Board will have to take permission from Mumbai Indians to include Archer in any series or tournament.

Will cricket go the way of football?

If this happens, it will be the first case in cricket where a cricketer will be under contract with a club/franchise on the lines of football. There is such a structure in football around the world where the main contract of the players is with their club and they play for the team of their country only when needed. In that too, the club has the main right to the player and only on their own will the player gets a chance to play in the national team.

Mumbai-Archer's association for two years

Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore in the mega auction held before the 2022 season. Although then Archer was out for the whole year due to injury and knowing this, Mumbai bought him. He could not play in the 2022 season, while in the 2023 season also he could play only 5 matches. Due to not being fully fit, he had to leave the tournament in the middle.
