In fact, on May 4, there is voting for the civic body elections in Lucknow. In such a situation, the district administration was not ready for this match given the security arrangements. So the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to change the date. BCCI has made an official announcement in this regard. However, till a few days ago there was talk of getting this match done without spectators.
According to a UPCA official, earlier there was talk of shifting the LSG and CSK match to the evening of May 4, but the KKR and Hyderabad Sunrisers franchises were not ready for this. After this, BCCI decided to change the date of this match.
Although seven matches of the IPL are to be held in Lucknow, the match against Chennai is considered to be the most important. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's popularity is still the highest despite his retirement from all forms of cricket.
An official of UPCA says that in all the matches played so far, 85-90 percent of seats of Ekana Stadium were seen filled, but there will be a huge crowd in Lucknow and Chennai matches to catch a glimpse of Mahi. There are speculations about staying houseful in the stadium.

There is a civic election in Lucknow on May 4 and security arrangements were a big issue in such a situation. It is a big match and fans from other districts besides Lucknow will reach out to watch it. In such a situation, it was a big challenge for the district administration to conduct matches and elections in a single day. Now the match between Lucknow and Chennai will be played with spectators.
