Game paused

During this match played at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, the decision given by on-field umpire Akshay Totre, J Madangopal, and TV umpire Yashwant Barde regarding no ball got into controversies. After this, due to the bad behavior of the spectators, the game had to be stopped for some time. The incident happened in the 19th over of Sunrisers Hyderabad's innings, when pacer Avesh Khan bowled Abdul Samad like a beamer, and umpire Akshar called it a no-ball. Sunrisers Hyderabad took DRS after this but the third umpire also called it a legal ball.

The batsman also spoke to the umpires but...

After the third umpire's decision, Heinrich Klaasen, who was batting with Samad, spoke to the on-field umpires. In TV replays and 'ball tracker', the ball was seen coming out of the top of the wicket with the batsman's waist. After this, Lucknow Supergiants head coach Andy Flower and mentor Gautam Gambhir got up from the dugout along with other team members and came near the boundary line. He was pointing something toward the audience gallery. It seemed that someone in the crowd had thrown something.

Slogans of Kohli-Kohli too

Along with this, the spectators sitting in the Hyderabad stadium were chanting 'Kohli-Kohli'. He is probably trying to tease Gambhir, the mentor of the Lucknow team, who had a spat with former India captain Virat Kohli during a match in the same IPL season some time back. Klaasen's attention was distracted due to the interruption and he was dismissed as soon as the match resumed.

Questions raised on umpiring

Heinrich Klaasen, speaking to the broadcasters after his innings, expressed his dismay at the behavior of the spectators as well as the umpires' decision. He said, 'To be honest, the audience was disappointed. You don't want that. This upset my rhythm. Umpiring was also not good. Classen was dismissed after scoring 47 runs in 29 balls in the match. During this, he hit 3 fours and as many sixes.
