Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 50th match of IPL 2023. In the match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi got a target of 182 runs in 20 overs, which they achieved by losing 3 wickets. Wicketkeeper batter Phil Salt played an important role in Delhi's victory. He hit the second half-century of his IPL career. This is Delhi's second consecutive victory. Earlier, Delhi Capitals defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 5 runs in the previous match.

Chasing the target of 182 runs, the opening pair of David Warner and Phil Salt added 60 runs for the first wicket. This is Delhi's biggest partnership for the first wicket this season. Warner was dismissed after scoring 22 runs in 14 balls. But Phil Salt persevered. He had come with some other intention. He continued batting fast from one end and completed his 50 runs in 28 balls in the 9th over. After this, Salt started playing freely and rained fours and sixes and along with Riley Russo gave victory to Delhi. Phil Salt hit 87 in 45 balls before getting out.
Salt hit 8 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. Before this match, Salt was dismissed for zero in two matches. He was bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL auction for Rs 2 crore and in this match, Salt lived up to the expectations. Dinesh Karthik dropped the catch of Salt on the score of 17 runs and it cost Bangalore dearly.
