Ajay Devgn Film Maidaan: This movie has come at a time when the era of Mukhtar Ansari is over and so is football. The film, without naming Mukhtar, gives a message to those who believe in Mukhtar as to who should be his real hero, while reminding India that in 64 years, we have lost all expectations from football, but we were once counted among the top teams in the world. Used to be, even today this can happen if we find a coach like Syed Abdul Rahim who gives his life for football.
Ajay Devgan
's film got stuck several times due to Corona and other problems, its set also got broken thrice due to different reasons, the problems faced in such a situation affected the making of the film. Especially in the screen play, when the film is released, comparisons will be made with films like Chak De India, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, or Gold. But Ajay Devgan's acting and the second half of the film outweighed all the other shortcomings. In such a situation, this movie has become a must-watch for the fans of football and Ajay Devgan.
The story of the film is true, SA Rahim has been the unsung hero of India's sports history. He is called the architect of Indian modern football, today the football team does not get a place in the Olympics, under his coach the team has reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Summer Olympics, while it has won gold medals in the Asian Games of 1951 and 1962. It was not an easy task for a common teacher to remain the coach of the Indian team from 1950 to 1963. But SA Rahim (Ajay Devgan) did all this, even when he was suffering from lung cancer.
His struggle is shown in the film, how he selects each footballer from the streets, from small teams, and fights for them with the Football Federation, this was the period when no one in India played football wearing shoes. Making them start practicing with shoes, politicians fighting for their funds and facing their opponents, all this happens simultaneously.
The film is based on four characters
. There are mainly four main characters in this movie, the role of Rahim Saab has been played by Ajay Devgan, his wife's role has been played by Priyamani, and Gajrao Rao has appeared as a famous sports journalist as the villain. , then Rudranil Ghosh supports him as the leader of the Football Federation. However, in a movie like 'Chak De India', three things were changed from the original story, the character of Pahari Hindu Mir Ranjan Negi was changed to a Muslim character, instead of showing Shahrukh as middle-aged like Mir, he was made young and full of energy. was shown and a lot of attention was paid to music.
The director of this film,
Amit Ravindra Nath Sharma, who has given superhit films like Badhaai Ho and has a long history in the world of advertisements, could not make many changes to make the story entertaining. Instead of making Rahim's character very youthful or using the 'Chak de India' formula of targeting him for changing religion or being a Muslim, he used Rahim Saab's disease i.e. lung cancer. Due to this, the audience gets an emotional attachment towards them, but the energy level becomes weak. Ajay Devgan is seen coughing in half the film. The length of the film (three hours and one minute) is also too much, some scenes could have been reduced from the first half.
Although the responsibility of music was given to AR Rahman and lyrics to Manoj Muntashir, songs like 'Team India Hain Hum' and 'Dil Nahi Todenge' have become good, 'Jaate Hain Jaane Do' or 'Mirza' are emotional songs. But till now it has not caught people's attention in the same way as Chak De India. However, many small dialogues in the film can get applause, like 'What you don't understand, don't criticize it'... 'Football is the only game in the whole world, in which destiny is written not by hands but by feet' .. 'I have given my whole life to football, you cannot give five minutes' or Ajay Devgan saying to the rest after one player got injured, 'I want an account of this'. However, it is not acceptable to say from the mouth of Bengal CM BC Roy that Roy Choudhary (Gajraj Rao) is known to make or break any government, because a sports journalist has never reached such a position to date.
Gajrao Rao is excellent
Despite this, Gajrao Rao's looks and acting were amazing. Priyamani and Rudranil Ghosh have also entered the role, while Chaitanya Sharma, who plays the role of PK Banerjee, or actors who play the roles of players like Chunni Goswami, Thangaraj, Hakeem, etc. also raise hopes, Devendra Gill too. It was already difficult to show the era of 1950, and even more difficult was to prepare the stadium and Indian and foreign players of that era. So the director must have found it so difficult to do all this that something seems missing in the film. But after the first half, there is a thrill like tying the seat belt. The camera following the football was really surprising, it must have been difficult to film every goal of that era in the same way, taking the positions of the players, etc. and it is also possible that the general audience who does not like football may not like the film.
But this movie should be watched so that you can know about another unsung hero of your country, and also know who the real hero should be. Let us also know that this movie can inspire us to return to the game of football, which we have almost forgotten. So even though I have given this movie a 3.5-star rating, for football lovers it should be taken as 4.5.
