According to a report in The Verge, Youtube says that this feature will be available only for iOS users who have a YouTube Premium subscription. But the company plans to expand PiP support to all iPhone users in the US soon. Picture-in-picture support at the operating system level was first introduced on the iPad with the iOS 9 update.

What's special about this feature is

that the picture-in-picture allows the user to watch YouTube videos in a small mini player while browsing outside the YouTube app on their mobile device, Youtube said in a statement. YouTube says that we are launching PiP for YouTube Premium members on iOS and plan to launch PiP for all US iOS users as well.
